INTERPRETING SERVICES ENGLISH INTO/FROM SPANISH

Through ethics and a high quality of work performance, we can educate the general public of the importance of our role as interpreters. Our interpreters are language-tested and trained professionals with the necessary skills that promise a comprehensible and successful communication. They perform the three modes of interpreting:

SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETATION

It is rendering an interpretation continuously at the same time someone is speaking. The interpreter is about one-half to one full sentence behind the speaker because of lexical and grammatical reasons. The interpretation is usually accomplished by speaking in whispered tones or using equipment specially designed for his purpose in order to be as unobtrusive as possible.

CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETATION

It is rendering statements made in a source language into statements in the target language intermittently, after a pause between each completed statement in the source language. In other words, the interpreter renders an interpretation after the speaker has stopped speaking.

SIGHT TRANSLATION

It is a hybrid type of interpreting/translating whereby the interpreter reads a document written in one language while translating it orally into another language. It may also be referred to as sight interpreting. In this mode of interpreting, a written text must be rendered orally without advance notice and on sight.

MEDICAL

Health care interpreters are bilingual individuals, trained in interpretation skills and medical terminology. We facilitate understanding in communication between people speaking different languages in healthcare settings. We are present in hospitals and clinics, at emergency rooms and diagnostic imaging services, dialysis centers, and a variety of mental health venues.

LEGAL

Legal interpreters must have a quiet confidence in the service we provide. Few other professions can lay claim to erase a barrier between people while at the same time ensuring an unalienable right to full participation in the due process of law. We witness individual’s lives unfolding before us and are changed, protected, affected or enhanced. All throughout, we are an invisible conduit of verbatim communication.

CONFERENCE

Conference interpreters work at conferences that have non-English-speaking attendees. This work includes international business and diplomacy, although conference interpreters interpret for any organization that works with foreign language speakers.

COMMUNITY

Community Interpreting enables people who are not fluent speakers of the official language(s) of the country to communicate with the providers of public services so as to facilitate full and equal access to legal, health, education, government, and social services. Community interpreting is distinguished from other types of interpreting, such as conference interpreting, in that the services are provided for the residents of a community right where they live, not for conference delegates, diplomats, or professionals traveling abroad to conduct
